Don't Get Fresh With Me

I laughed at this. Twice.

Two low points of 90s pop culture recycled and fit together perfectly.

See? And I didn't find anything even remotely funny about it. Ah, the gender divide...

JCVD breaking the guy's arm AND breaking the "fourth wall" by looking directly into the camera? They guy who stumbles and crouches to faceplant perfectly into the parking meter? The super-generic thuggish behavior of the bad guys? The over-the-top adolescent male rescue fantasy? All over a Mentos soundtrack? Sarcasm, parody, absurdity, slapstick, satire, hyperbole... it's all there. Plus he's sporting a killer mullet/perm!

For technical merit, it's aces. The sunglasses flying off the face and the face smash into the parking meter time perfectly to the music, now that's some craft at work.

SG had to inform me that the hero of the spot was Jean Claude van Damme. At least I knew (sort of) who he is. I guess the footage is from a movie? I was terrified that someone had filmed it just to go into the parody.
