Gay/Straight Comedy Debate: What Are You Laughing At?

Our stats showed a lot of traffic on our post earlier this week about Gay Guy/Straight Guy dessert faves. So here's another guy-on-guy . . . err. . . blogger-on-blogger . . . survey on a favorite topic for both of us -- movies.

Is it surprising that the results of the survey show that, if we've both seen it, we tend to both like it? No big surprise that we both love Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles. We never talked about it, but I'm not surprised that Spinal Tap is an SG fave, but would he have suspected that South Park would end up in my '"likes" quad?

We both have films to add to our NetFlix lists. Clearly there was about a decade where we did not cross paths in the movie theater.

Straight Guy and I don't make enough time to get to the movies together. Humpday is still hanging around, and maybe we can hit that. I know I couldn't drag you to Julie and Julia even with the promise of an extra large box of Milk Duds. But, a new version of Fame is due out in a month and we WILL be there.

I'm jealous of this graphic - why does my blog not have a graphic designer on staff? But, GG, you must see Raising Arizona immediately. It's a travesty that you've let it go this long...

Oh, and Groundhog Day! How could you NOT have seen Goundhog Day! All those joke-references that have gone right over your head.
(Grumbles...."geez...I haven't seen anything and even I'VE seen Groundhog Day.....)

I think I was in a pseudo-intellectual phase in 1993 when Groundhog's Day came out. I remember seeing Three Colors: Blue; Age of Innocence; The Piano; Philadelphia; and Farewell My Concubine. Though, I also did see Jurassic Park and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Being a movie snob has become too much work. My last two trips to the movies were Up and Harry Potter. I'm a happier guy for it.

I thought it was interesting that Rob Reiner films were all over the map, from highest to lowest rated (in a survey of well known comedies, no complete duds here). I would have thought GG would like Princess Bride. We never quite know whether it's sarcastic or sentimental, just like you, GG. Most likely, both. You're not fooling anyone.
