Hall of Badassery: They Can See My House From There!

I could not stop watching this, and caught my breath a couple of times.

Readers, remind me what the helmets are for? In case they fall from 1700 feet?

I had to stop watching - I thought I was going to hurl. I don't even do heights on video sitting in the safety of my home.

"And that's how you climb to the top of a transmission tower."

Oh YES. THAT'S what was going on. Because its just so SIMPLE. Almost every word out of that guy's mouth drove me even crazier. "Free climbing is of course more dangerous."

Really? I had no clue...

I thought I'd stop watching about halfway through because I was getting dizzy and silently begging the guy to STOP LOOKING DOWN (because you are NOT supposed to do that!), but before I knew it, I was six minutes in and my nails were chewed down completely.

"This is called 'free climbing,'" the voice-over says. Is that related to free falling.

I couldn't make it all the way through. My tummy started to hurt.

That's some badassery, SG!

Related to the helmet comment: Once he started freeclimbing and clipped on his safety rope to rest, I couldn't help noticing it was a big hook on a small...L-shaped thingy. I'm thinking if he did start to fall, especially sideways, that hook's sliding right off. Glad I'm in good company on this blog - on many issues.

I'm not afraid of heights and this had me super anxious. Hazard pay and a giant ADD policy couldn't make me do this for a living.

At first I thought it'd be cool if they could glide or parachute down until I saw the other towers around. Badass is right.

Are you trying to KILL me? I made it till 4 mins and change and simply couldn't take it anymore. Obviously the guys do this all the time but I think they're completely INSANE.

INSANE.

I managed to get through the whole thing. My question: what a-hole designed that? Haven't they ever heard of LED's?
