Emerson famously said "Men love to wonder, and that is the seed of science." Emerson didn't say anything about garage experiments and Peter's wife, who is probably right, by the way. But great scientists never simply do what they are told to do. Fight the good fight, Peter.

As a science person who used liquid nitrogen to make ice cream in a stand mixer today, I have to agree. Fight the good fight, Peter. Fight the good fight.
Well, there was a child near by - not that Peter was endangering him/ her.
Reminds me of the party in college when there was a huge BANG and two guys ran out of the bathroom. The host said, "Lynn...what were you doing?" Lynn, a chemistry major, mumbled sheepishly, "Throwing sodium in a sink full of water."
I want to party with these guys.
